Do We Really Want to Help People?

Or is just a quick thought?

We can send request whenever we want

“Nah why should i give my money to them if they will very likely use my money to buy alcohol ?”

This is the answer I often get from people

It’s interesting because most people rush to home, rush to work, pay little attention on the street, look at phone, even I am a traveler now who spend lots of time walking on the street, i still haven’t see a homeless guy buy alcohol.

It’s really hard for us to know whether or not they will use our money to buy alcohol, they can buy it at any time at any shop. But the question is — Do we really want to help?

When there is a possibility, a high possibility that homeless people will use our money to buy something that we dont want them to buy, should we just stop helping them?

When we dont want some situation to happen, would you support the situation by being silent, walk away or do something, anything to change?

IF we really dont want something to happen, we could at least send a signal to support the side we choose even though we have little free will. So since we dont want them to misuse our money, We could walk to them, stay there for awhile and tell them

“Goodmorning, this money is for you, I hope you can use my money for your health, healthy food okay? Bye bye”

By extending our behavior longer, by giving eye contact and smile we could reinforce our wishes to them, rather than giving it without even looking at homeless guy.

Small behaviors matter and can absolutely make changes.

Share positive message

Words are powerful if we believe in it.

“Yooo, I’m Eric, I’m a traveler here and my hobby is to help people, please take my money okay?”

Even though I only give them 50cents, but I believe my message could make them happier

What I am going to practice next is to write my wishes down on a paper and give the message to them with money.

By writing, by hand, i could share more of my support. If big enough, it will make changes. At least this is what i believe.

“Goodmorning, I’m Eric from Taiwan, I am a nomad, I am so happy to have your attention and this is the money I want to help you. I realized helping people make me happy. If it’s okay with you, i hope you can use my money to support your health and I believe you have the potential to help other people like me:))”
